What a probability means
When the paper says Sydney has a 68 per cent chance of exceeding 30 °C tomorrow, it means that in an ensemble of weather-model runs, about two in three finished above that line. It is a statement of odds, not a forecast of one number — read it the way you read a chance of rain.
